dave showed me this vid. tres hilarious. the end uses language which isn't exactly from my vocabulary, but the beginning is definitely worth it. so if your viewing this with any one who may be offended stop watching at 4:15 or you will be bombarded.
What are hug races you ask? Well I'll tell you. It's when you go out of your way to hug someone of a different race. Just kidding.
When I was a young child there was two things that I wanted more than anything else in the world , one a Big Wheel and secondly, The Turtle Van for my teenage mutant ninja turtles. A close third was a puppy but because of my mothers chronic allergies I had to settle on the warm embrace of my father. Enough digressing. A hug race occurred every time my father departed or arrived home to/from work. My brother and Sisters and I would race down the stairs to get that legendary first hug. There was nothing better in the world, except for of course the big wheel and the turtle van. But that first hug was a right of passage straight to my fathers heart.
In our young naivety we thought that our father loved us more for it. But deep down we knew that he loved drag racing and hockey fights the most but for that one moment during first place hug we felt like we were number one. And for that joyous emotion involved I want everyone to experience.
So next time you see me, who will be there for the illustrious first hug? Will it be you? Will you be my number one?
Well, we're back from California, as of just over a week ago and I have finally gotten around to posting some pics and thoughts on xanga. It has been over a month since my last post because I like many have neglected xanga for more lackadaisical social networking sites.
Going into this road trip I didn't know what to expect, so expectations were obviously not that high, although I was very excited. Spending time with 3 great friends driving over 6000km, eating fast food, staying in dodgy motels and traveling the coast is what dreams are made of. And that is exactly how the trip went, like a great dream, without the drool. It was almost perfection.
I could take so much time to explain every detail of the trip, seeing as we wrote a trip journal, but I would be here forever. So I will just try to highlight some of the experience, both good and bad.
First the bad. Growing up you hear and see all the hype surrounding the movie industry and the celebrities. The glamor, the fame, the money, so its quite hard to not get caught up in some sort of hype and preconception of what Hollywood is. Hollywood is one square block, with a mall,a few fancy stars on the pavement, a couple theaters, invasive street vendors and exactly the type of thing dreams shouldn't be made of. I know that I may have not seen the entire area, but I seen enough to realize that spending half a day there wasn't time well spent. But that evening we went to Santa Monica which made everything better.
Secondly the good. The best parts of the trip for me was San Diego and the Oregon Coast. San Diego was amazing. A great place to relax on the beach, catch some rays and shred a few waves. The beaches were sandy, the area was clean and the people were friendly. The Zoo was also cool. The Oregon Coast was the biggest surprise. NEVER did I expect it to be as amazing as it was. It was perfect. The dunes were fantastic and the ocean was picturesque. I know I have said this before but I will say it again, we live in a BEAUTIFUL world.
In the end everything was worth it. But now I think I have the travel bug.
*update*
This is picture is of a panda cub at the San Diego Zoo. We got pretty close, as you can see. But the closer we got the more freightend the cub became, so we backed off and gave it some space. Beth this is for you!
